Parus cinctus (Siberian Tit)

Scientific name: Parus cinctus Boddaert, 1783

Field characters. 13.5 cm. Like Marsh Tit or Willow Tit, but size of Great Tit. Pattern of Marsh Tit, but with dark brown crown and neck, brownish upperparts, fairly long brownish tail, white cheeks, large but poorly defined black bib, white underparts, and chestnut flanks. Wing pattern absent. General habits as other tits.

Voice. Like Marsh Tit, but also a long 'eez-eez-eez'.

Distribution. Rather common in northern part of region.

Habitat. Pine and birch forests in valleys and on slopes.

Food. Mainly invertebrates, but in winter also seeds and buds.
