Scientific name: Hippolais polyglotta (Vieillot, 1817)

Field characters. 13 cm. Closely similar to Icterine Warbler. Like that species, upperparts green, underparts yellow, and supercilium yellow, wings and tail dark, undertail coverts white. Like Icterine Warbler, some individuals are brown-white rather than green-yellow. Differs in shorter wings and primary projection, and less obvious or fully absent wing panel. Peak of crown above eyes, not behind, as in Icterine, giving a rounder instead of flat-headed appearance; grey of legs browner.
Voice. Calls 'tic', or 'wheet'. Song faster, less repetitive and more warbling than Icterine Warbler, resembling song of Garden Warbler, but with sparrow-like chirping notes. Lacks 'dideroiet' of Icterine Warbler. Some individuals imitate better than others.
Distribution. Common summer visitor.
Habitat. Orchards, groves, gardens, parks, near marshes, river sides, etc.
Food. Insects and berries.
