Predation is the consumption of members of a species, the prey, by members of another species, the predator. A great number of bird species serve as prey for other animals, but on the other hand a large group of birds-of-prey exists (the orders Falconiformes and Strigiformes) which feed on other birds and animals, but are usually not preyed on themselves.
